Things look hopeless, but I am confident that refrigerator of a man can handle it. I never even played Gears of War, but I have forever been curious about it since that trailer is so dark and haunting. Surely there is a high number of potential trailers to nominate, but my vote goes to the original Gear of War trailer.
The hyper specific topic I hope to explore today is the first video game trailer that surpassed the quality and feel of a good movie trailer. The above quote from the Final Fantasy trailer was an excellent way to advertise the game. “The story of a love that can never be, and a hate that always was.” I am also, not talking about the first good video game trailer, which is probably “Final Fantasy VII,” primitive by today’s standards but back when “Final Fantasy VII’s” trailer was first released, even people who did not care about Final Fantasy were excited, even people who did not care about video games were excited.
Just to be clear, I am not talking about the best video game trailer, that is often considered to be “Dead Island” which shows a family overrun by zombies with interchanging scenes working chronologically forward and backward until the two narrative meet in the middle over lain with an extremely moody piano piece. There was a time when a video game even having a trailer was a novelty, now I am discovering an interest not only in a tonne of games I will never have time to play but also, I am discovering fun new songs all the time in those said video game trailers. I cannot be the only person who has noticed the vast improvement in video game trailers over the past few decades. Serious question when did video game trailers become superior to movie trailers? This is a start, but if you want to continue with piano, unless you're a musical savant who can play anything by ear, it's best to get on with those lessons and learn to read musical notation.ĭigital Pianos - Electronic Pianos - Synths &a. I hope you'll report back and let us know how you do. The thing is, you really have to stick-to-it to get where you want to go. If you do it this way, I bet you could be playing this before too long. You might find you have a knack for playing by ear.
Or you can have the music there in front of you (is it available?) but the strategy is that you try to rely more heavily on playing by ear to help you read the music - as opposed to visa versa. You can memorize the notes or try some simple method to write it down, not necessarily the usual musical note method. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, keep going till you get it right. If you have an "ear", you'll be able to figure it all out, melody and harmony.
Then by trial and error, pick the notes out on the piano.
If you are back to ground zero, that is, you basically have to learn how to read music over again, I think you may be able to achieve your goal more quickly by learning to play this piece of music by ear.įirst, record the music. I consider this an easy to play piece of music. The lgth of time it will take you to learn how to play this will depend on how devoted you are to achieving your goal. Very moody, or as Nikolas says, "melancholic." I love that song, too, both versions, but I like Gary Jules odd sounding out-of-tune-ish piano version of this best.
